Up for sale is a IWC 18k Yellow Gold Highly Engraved Carillon Minute Repeater Chronograph Hunter Pocket Watch c. 1910. Signed, round, 18k yellow gold, hunter case no. 33219 measures 53mm, weighs approx. 130g, and features a highly engraved scene of three dogs sitting in a garden, a latch to set time on bezel by 4 o’clock, chronograph activation by 12 o’clock, minute repeating activation slide by 6 o’clock, hinged case back, and 18k engraved cuvette. Signed, white enamel dial with black Arabic hour markers, pink gold Louis XVI hands, sunken subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and outer minute track. Manual winding, minute repeating mechanical movement no. 33219. Accompanied by wooden custom designed IWC presentation box. In excellent vintage condition.
This pocket watch is part of a rare series of complicated watches made by IWC between 1910 and 1920. According to the book IWC-Uhren by Reinhard Meis, this series of watches were originally made for the South American market.
