Up for sale is a Patek Philippe Men’s Calatrava (Ref 3796) 18k Yellow Gold Wristwatch. Signed round 18k Yellow Gold Case no. 2836030 with Hobnail Bezel measures 30mm. This watch has a signed white enamel dial with black roman numerals and black hands. Seconds subdial at 6 o’clock position. Patek Philippe black crocodile strap and 18k Yellow Gold Patek Philippe buckle, both in very good condition. Signed mechanical movement no. 1359729. In excellent ‘as new’ condition. Inventory: 21885.
The Calatrava Cross is Patek Philippe’s logo and the name of one of it’s most classic and iconic designs. The cross was originally created as the emblem for the first military order of Castile, Spain, which was founded in 1157 by an arm of the Cistercian monastic order who became ‘knights of the cross’ in an effort to repel and hold lands located on Castile’s southernmost border from invasion by Muslim armies for the Catholic church. Patek Philippe’s original founders adopted the Calatrava cross as their symbol in order to inscribe each timepiece with the emblem as a sort of charm or talisman, with the intent that it might help protect the wearer from harm and bring them success and good fortune in all their endeavors.
