Description

Up for sale is an Vacheron & Constantin (Ref 4212) 18k Yellow Gold Open Face Pocket Watch, c. 1940s. Notable two- toned dial,  comprised of both matte-silver and silver.  Dial features applied gold  Arabic numerals and gold sword hands. Seconds register at the 6 o’clock position. The circular 18k YG case measures 44 mm, case no. 292645. Attached to the pendant is a detachable gold loop so the customer has the option of adding the pocket watch to a piece of jewellery, if desired. Gold hallmark present on pendant. Manual movement. Movement no. 440181. Caliber 439. Overall watch weight 56 g.

The back of the watch is engraved with “Presented in token of Appreciation and Affection. To: Oliver H. Clark, by his associates of the Engineering Division Chrysler Corp. May 6 1947.” Clark was Chrysler’s chief body engineer and was primarily responsible for both the styling and design of the brand’s products. Clark would go on to become the creator of Chrysler’s internationally- known emblem.
